Book Review of CHUPACABRA BY: ROLAND SMITH

ChupacabraThis book is the third book in the Cryptid Hunters series by Roland Smith. It is preceded by Tentacles, which I reviewed earlier.

In this book Marty and his friends are trapped inside of Noah Blackwood’s Seattle Ark. Luther, Marty and Dylan go to save Marty’s cousin who is being held in the Ark. They stay there until after closing hours when strange experiments take place in the basement. As Grace is wandering around, she finds out many surprising things about her grandfather. When Noah Blackwood releases his secret invention, the Chupacabra, disaster strikes for the group.

This time around, there are seven main characters. Luther, who has shaved his head, Dylan, a kid who has seen a Sasquatch, Marty and Grace, Noah Blackwood and his henchman and henchwoman, Butch McCall and Yvonne Zloblinavech. The creature “Chupacabra”, or “Nine” as he is referred to, could also be considered a character. Nine is being controlled by Yvonne.

The book was pretty good and it starts to get really interesting near the middle. It is still realistic, but not quite as realistic as Tentacles. I like how Roland Smith brings in Dylan who is actually from another book that he wrote. One of my favorite parts was when Yvonne was being chased by a pot-bellied pig.
